Avast me hearties!
The Brixham Buccaneers, a pirate group in Brixham, have held Pirate Thursdays every week over last summer and during school holidays. Due to it's massive success over the years, they have decided to hold a full-blown, four day festival between 1 - 4 May.
With the magnificent Golden Hind as its backdrop, this motley crew provide entertainment for the whole family, from face painting to stocks and storytelling to balloon making. Enjoy the spectacle of shops bedecked with pirate bunting and flags; bring your camera and capture great memories.
The event will be a swashbuckling spectacular with all local businesses in Brixham dressing up their windows and getting involved. Expect a real pirate atmosphere, with fun and games galore, including competitions, costumes, music, theatre and great entertainment for all the family. There will be sea shanty competitions in "The Aaargh Factor", pirate re-enactments, pirate fun days and even a world record breaking attempt to have the largest number of pirates gathered together in one area on Sunday 3rd May! Brixham has built up a strong maritime heritage, from the noble fishing industry to the less noble but no less interesting smugglers and pirates - come and discover stories about them all!
